Competitive process to establish a framework of developers and investors who design, build, finance and operate solar arrays on our client Yorkshire Water’s sites and sell the electricity generated to the regulated utility via a private wire power purchase agreement (PPA).

Benefits to the client
The deployment of solar panels will contribute to Yorkshire Water’s 2030 net zero pledge, reduce exposure to energy price volatility and lower site operating costs.

Newbridge role
Newbridge Advisors, as strategic, commercial and financial advisor, worked with Yorkshire Water to establish a solar framework of experienced developers / investors.  Newbridge also advised Yorkshire Water prior to the award of the first portfolio under the framework which included approximately 21MWp of solar arrays across waste water treatment works, pumping stations and other operational sites.

"The private wire projects awarded through the framework are a significant step in reaching our aims of carbon net zero by 2030.  We valued Newbridge’s input throughout the procurement process, in particular their insights when working with our legal and technical advisors in developing the bespoke commercial arrangements which underpin these projects."
